Overview
Most of us go to work on a daily basis and never realise just how often we place ourselves
in unsafe situations.
Most of us have the attitude, ‘It will never happen to me’.
However, workplace accidents occur regularly in every industry. Hospitality is no
exception!
Human error is almost always a factor in workplace accidents. The injured person is not
solely responsible for the accident as co-workers and management also contribute in
some way.
Recent hard-hitting television commercials are placing workplace safety responsibility
primarily on the shoulders of managers and owners of organisations. There is no mercy
given to employers who choose to ignore the issues of workplace safety.
The bottom line is the prevention of injury and illness is far less painful than the cure.
In this unit you will learn how to:
• Follow workplace procedures for health, safety and security
• Follow procedures for emergency situations
• Participate in the organisation’s OHS practices. |
