Can you remember a time when your grandmother insisted that apple sauce was always served with pork, roast potatoes were always served with roast lamb, and apple pie was always served with lashings of cream and ice cream?

For some, these traditions are still being passed down from one generation to the next. However, each new generation develops new foods and trends. We now have a very extensive range of cuisines due to our cultural diversity. And the amount of choices and food and beverage combinations continues to increase.

As a result, you must continually source and update knowledge in the food and beverage industry and keep in touch with the ever-changing needs of customers.

People’s tastes are all different and no one should question customers’ beverage and food combinations. However, to offer informed advice to customers, you need a basic knowledge of how food and alcohol are best combined to enhance the flavours and textures of each.
