Didasko is working with Broadlex Services in delivering the highest standards of service to Qantas Club lounges in Sydney Airport.

Qantas is one of Australia’s best known brands. In 2005 Qantas was named the number two airline in the world as well as the Best Airline Australasia and Best Airline trans-Pacific, in the world’s largest airline passenger survey.

Qantas Club lounges provide a comfortable environment where members can enjoy a range of refreshments while catching up on newspapers, magazines and TV. Business customers can also use PCs, printers, fax/phone and wireless internet access.

Broadlex Services provides lounge attendants, kitchen staff and cleaning services to the Qantas Club lounge at Sydney’s Kingsford Smith Airport.

The aim of the Didasko training program is to provide learning and development to meet and exceed the high expectations of Qantas, enabling Qantas Club to offer unsurpassed levels of comfort, service and luxury.

Training provided
Didasko is providing training to Broadlex’s Qantas Club staff in Certificate III in Hospitality (Operations). This nationally recognised course has been customised to cater for Qantas Club lounge policies, procedures and service ethos.

There is a strong focus on compliance and food safety training provided through the units Responsible service of alcohol, Follow workplace hygiene procedures and Implement food safety procedures. The food safety unit gives trainees a grounding in the HACCP food safety system.

Innovative delivery
With the aim of keeping service running smoothly and efficiently while the training is taking place, Didasko is providing training delivery tailored to the client.

The delivery method includes a range of flexible workplace based options including self-paced learning with Didasko’s multimedia learning resources, on-the-job coaching and assessment.

Didasko is honoured to be working with one of the world's best airlines in such an important customer-facing venue for domestic and international travellers, the Qantas Club lounge at Sydney Airport.

Computer Power hosts its twelfth Wellington graduation

Computer Power (NZ) Ltd. hosted a graduation ceremony at the West Plaza Hotel on 4 August to mark the completion of study for its Wellington-based students. Over 70 students and family members joined the Computer Power staff to celebrate this achievement and wish them the best of luck as they begin new careers in Information Technology (IT).

Cheryl Horo, the General Manager of Women in Technology, spoke on the importance and networking in the IT market and provided insight on the best approaches. This advice was well received as the graduates identify new career opportunities with the close support of Computer Power’s Placement Consultants.

Andrew Horton, the Managing Director of Computer Power’s parent company Didasko, was also in attendance and had the honour of presenting the Awards of Excellence and the Dux Trophy.

Eamon Timms is an example of the outstanding quality of Computer Power’s graduates. Not only did he receive his Diploma in front of friends and family, he was offered a position as Systems Engineer at LANsmart prior to graduation.

Eamon also invited his new manager, Glen Houliah, to the event. Glen has been involved with Computer Power for the last few years supporting its Field Site Training students, hiring graduates at his business LANsmart and being part of the Curriculum Advisory Board. Glen also attended the company’s networking events as guest speaker.

The ceremony was a great success and the Wellington Institute is already preparing for the next round of graduates!
