Overview

Whatever your taste or budget – super swanky to the downright cheap – Australia is blessed with a truly assorted bar scene. Whether you want a simple beer or a fancy cocktail there are multitudes of bars to cater to your needs.

Traditionally, bars were found in the corner hotel or pub but these days bars exist in any form. Some are old, some new and some revamped. They all offer a range of services such as food, beverage and entertainment and vary greatly in their layout, set-up and operation. However, they all have something in common in that they serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks in some form or another.

The range of drinks they offer will vary enormously depending on the type or style of bar. Whether you chose a bar for its product range, the décor, the service or the obscurity of finding it tucked away in a back lane the list of bar options is almost endless.

Learning how to perform the role of a bar attendant can be great fun but there is a lot to learn.

In this unit you will learn how to:

• Prepare bar for service
• Take drink orders
• Prepare and serve drinks
• Close down bar operations.
